Subject: Electronic humming/buzzing onTravis's 10th (Tudor 786)

Message:

Though the Travis 10th (Tudor 786) has been cited on this site and in other journals as the best of the two Raff 10ths out there, so far no critic that I've read has mentioned a fault with the recording (not the performance) that renders it almost unlistenable for me: a persistent electronic hum or buzz that lasts the entire symphony. The humming/buzzing is similar to the hum of an FM radio station suffering from mild interference. The hum is present only in the symphony. The "Feste Burg" overture, recorded four years later under P. Steinberg, is not so afflicted.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Sorry, John, my copy is as clean as a whistle. Why not write to Tudor (www.tudor.ch) - they seem a pretty helpful bunch.
