I've been introduced in Raff's symphonies through Fernando
Oliva, and I have to say that I have been impressed almost
for all of them, but most the 4, by now my favourite. Hope
to enjoy for a long time his music and your opinions. |

Hello Angie,
Last monday I bought via Internet RAFF´S 2ND. SYMPHONY (Schneider/Slovak/Marco
Polo). I hope we´ll listen it together.
Remember "LENORA" (#5)and "IN DEN ALPEN" (#7).
I think you enjoyed very much than like we heard the 4th.
And remember Concert-Overture in F, ten minutes of very very
good music. I prefer this ten minutes than large symphonies
of others consagrated compositors.
I´ve good luck, and also bought this tuesday Rubinstein´s
piano concerto #4 (superb!) & Balakirev p. c. #2 (so good!).
Shall we
listen too? .
Fernando. |

Yes, possibly because they don't have programmes, the 2nd.
and 4th. symphonies seem to get less attention than the other
nine but they are both amongst my personal favourites. I
certainly find them more enjoyable and more satisfying musically
than, say, Nos.1, 6 and 11.
No.2 in particular I'd put amongst Raff's best symphonies. |
