Subject: The new Forums - Update
Message:
I hope to move over to the new Forums this weekend.
As a consequence, you may find that either the entire site, or just the Forum itself is offline from time to time whilst I effect the changeover.
It is not possible to carry over the existing threads. They will all be added to the current archive as soon as possible, but I may not be able to do this straight away, so my apologies if we have to start again from scratch.
You will have to log in on your first visit, choosing a user name and a password. Provided you have cookies enabled in your web browser, it shouldn't be necessary to log in when you return.
I have taken your advice and stripped out many of the new software's "features", so that there aren't too many distractions. I've also done my best to tailor the look to match the rest of the site. Any modification can result in bugs and so I've added a third forum, at least for the time being, so that you can report any problems of layout or functionality which have escaped my frenetic testing sessions this week. I hope that there won't be too many.
The new Forums will have a bare look to begin with - I'm looking forward to lots of interesting posts to fill things up quickly.
Thanks for all your support, I really appreciate it.

Good luck with it all and many thanks for the hard work you have done for Raff (and for us).
Look forward to the new layout with anticipation and trepidation. Hope the 'gliche' factor turns out to be non-event. And that 'newcomers' keep turning up - a couple last evening I think.
Ps - this may sounds ridiculous, but is there any way PR work can be done to boost the new site? Other than word of mouth.
regards
Peter

Thanks, Peter. As for PR work - well, I'm happy with word of mouth and references in news groups etc. Most people find us by searching for "Raff" on Google and that's not a bad way to arrive here - at least we know that their hearts are in the right place!
