Subject: Octet Op.176

Message:

Having heard the octet on a CD with the Mendelssohn octet, some of us here thought we would like to have a go a playing it. It didn't appear to be in print, but on the Raff website I discovered there to be a score at the university in Berlin. I got them to send me a microfiche of the score, from which I have extracted parts on my music program (Music Time)from which to play. I can now make this available for anyone interested. It has cost me a bit to produce, so a contribution of, say, $25 (Australian) towards the cost (plus p + p) would be appreciated. The offer is available only within Australia due to uncertainty of the copyright situation in other countries. The score I worked from could not be later than 1908, as the price in Thalers is printed on the cover, and thalers went out of circulation in Germany in 1908. If anyone has more information on the copyright issue I would be most interested to hear about it.

Thanks, John

I have more enquiries about parts for the Octet than for any other work. I'll make sure that I pass any more on to you!
