Raff was often criticised for writing too much music, and in several fits of self-criticism he withdrew and destroyed some of his early works from the 1840s. Also lost, although not necessarily deliberately destroyed, were his first attempts at writing orchestral and chamber music, including his first symphony. These works are listed under either their original Opus number or their WoO. number. They are also included in the Opus Number and WoO order listings.
