In the LP era, Raff was poorly served when compared with the comparatively large number of CD recordings. For many years the only Raff available was on compilation historic recordings - mainly of pianists playing La Fileuse or the Cavatine. In the 1970s there was a breakthrough with Bernard Herrmann's classic recording of the "Lenore" Symphony - which he had to pay for himself as no recording company would risk the issue! Versions of the Piano Concerto, "Ode to Spring" and the "Im Walde" Symphony (with a heavily cut finale) soon followed on the Vox Candide label.

Smaller Swiss labels filled out the repertoire with the Symphony No.8 and some chamber music and piano issues and in America Genesis, specialists in neglected romantic music, issued excellent recordings of the Piano Concerto and the Piano Suite No.4. To mark the centenary of Raff's death the small German town of Empfingen issued a recording of a live performance of the "World's End" Oratorio.
